my first week at mwb was great!
the office is bigger than i expected it to be (from what little i saw during prior interviews). I LOVE the view!!!!! We're at the 35th floor at The Concourse. From where i'm seated at my desk i can see the DHL ballon going up and down! Way cool! Also i can see the skyline. And if i stood up and go to the edge of the office i could enjoy the magnificent view of the area around! ( i haven't really got the chance to do this much 'cause i dun wanna make people's first impression of me as someone so relaxed!) my desk its orange! And i like it that the office is rather open with the partition covering only the head down. SOrta keep me on my toes and i won't (hopefully) be caught sitting with a bad posture- which i always do normally. there's TWO pantry! -one of which has a great view!!! i can't wait when fasting mth's over i will like bring up lunch and enjoy the scenic view. (hopefully by then the haze will be gone too!)
guess wad! Fiza is my team mate! And BEST of all I am seated next to her!!! It havent sink in yet the reality of me actually working in the same company as one of my favoritist senior from SMU! :p hehe. (smile Fiza! i noe u'll read this eventually) So its really cool 'cause there's someone within hand's reach to help me orientate myself to work. (oh yeah i must share that it is even more fun to periodically chat via the office messenger despite being seated next to each other! and trying hard not to burst out laughing!!) Ok enuff of her! there's other people i am pleased to see too! Munirah also my senior, Audrey & Deepa from my batch and even Khairiah my junior who is doing her internship there. there's also Kenny whom i recognised from Tekong. almost like SMU reunion of sorts. haha.
i also like the fact that we're in Bugis and not Tanjong PAgar or Raffles Place where it can get quite unnerving during lunchtime- crossing the road with loads of people, walking to the foodcourt with loads of people and worst of all trying to get seats competing with loads of people! (u get wad i mean..) The beautiful shophouses and the najextic SUltan Mosque (will) make lunchtime less stressful. (Will because i have yet to have lunch at all cause its fasting mth- duh!) So what if i have to walk ten mins and cross 3 traffic lights to get to work? I find the walk enjoyable. :P
however, i find it hard to keep awake during trainings.. figthing the Z monster a lot man.. haha.. need to change bio clock (WTH! and i'm bloggin right now at 4:39 am havent yet slept since yest!) Anyway yes.. i was in the brink of slamming my head into the table a couple of times! thk god for the Indon staff who were also there at trg. :p Also, i so need to get used to the speeding lifts up and down THIRTY-FIVE floors! almost experience Lift-Sickness (is there such a thing?) Though i find it amusing for the pressure in my ear drums to be cleared only after a few minutes i am seated on my table.
There's a lot to learn. A LOT!! but i guess the challenge to absorb as much as one can is exciting for me. ( i think..)
10 things that i look forward to at work (at the moment):
1) luncthime when i'm not fasting
2) watching TV commercials
3) working with my colleagues (esp Fiza!)
4) analyzing numbers & providing reccomendations
5) a succesful (if not wonderful) 3-mth probabtion period
6) my first full presentation (all 120++ of it full with tables charts and interesting albeit useful analysis)
7) great eventful first year at the company
8) pay raises! (hopefully generous ones)
9) an overseas presentation
10) and the company's Away Day (though next July.. :)
hmmm.. i think i should think of wad fun things to do at lunch.. maybe i should organiza an hour photographing adventure around the office area for those who are fasting (that would be at most 5 people including myself)
till more updates on my journey as a Research Associate in MWB!
