mystery song

the Celestial song for the TV commercial by Goldheart has really got me curious. The song's really nice and pretty apt. with lyrics like; " " so i searched and searched the internet for the song but to no avail. Apparently some of my other frens think that it is a nice song too! So i decided to email them and asked about it:

Dear Fadzli,

Thank you very much for your email. Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in the reply to your email. The theme song for Celestial was specially composed for the commercial and it is not meant for commercial release.

Best Regards,

dissapointing but at the same time i thought its quite a smart move. imagine the possibilities- marketing/ publicity possibilities! hmmm.. i'm gonna brainstorm and send them a proposal! Lol... :P

on another note, since i'm gonna be a marketing graduate real soon, i'm quite intrigued by the local diamond/jewellery industry. So many brands are going for similar ads. Music, people and diamonds. If not diamonds, stars or songs about stars and people crying. How on earth are they gonna differentiate themselves esp with simiklar advertising. I read from ad/ branding books that ads esp expenisive ones i.e tv) should try to differentiate themselves to better build the brand. I mean 2 years down the road, the songs from such ads may be in your mind but i doubt the brand.. Just think about it..

i think its 75% true, what do YOU think?

Red
Your color is red, the color of racy sportscars, blushing cheeks, and luscious roses. Red symbolizes passion, romance, and love. So, since you're ruled by red, you probably trust your feelings more than your brain and tend to act spontaneously. If you see something you want, you go for it without thinking twice — impulsive is your middle name. You don't wait around for people to make decisions, either; you dive right in. Quite the romantic, you pay close attention to your emotions. In fact, if your heart isn't in what you're doing, you won't be satisfied. Of course, even when you do pour all your energy into the projects you tackle, your impetuous nature means your passions can shift as frequently as the wind. That's why some reds have trouble with commitment. Our advice? Next time you're feeling fickle, think before you act, if possible. You might be surprised at the results. Overall, though, it's great to be red. No one lives life more completely than you do.

my final dec vacation as a student

one more week till the new year and the final term of my smu life starts. One more week of my last december vacation. so far it has been going as planned- laid back and unplanned. But maybe it is too laid back i thought to myself. I kinda wanted the december holidays to be like really relaxing but when friends asked me "hows your hols" it seems like i have not much to say really. and its definitely a conversation killer if i tell them i spent most of the time sleeping.. so this entry will be sort of an recollection, and proabably a reassesment of what i did for the past few weeks and what i plan and must do to justify the use what's left in my december holidays.

studies shown that people who consistently have less than 7-8 hours of sleep will tend to die earlier so well yeah the point is, the first constructive thing i did, albeit useless at first glance is of course to catch up on my sleep. I really have been sleeping for about eight hours, or MORE!, on most of the december. It sure feels revitalising especially after a sleep deprived term due mainly to the Comms course (which if you havent read yet, paid off greatly with me winning one of the Book Prize!) So there you go, i managed to recharge and get loads of sleep, without having to take leave or off days!- can just imagine that i would actually need to take leave from work just to recharge in the near future.

Gym. yes i know i dun not have the bod but i did went to gym although not as much as i wanted. I only went three times mainly because of the fact that i didnt want to pus myself to the point of immobility which will in turn impair me greatly in my dance rehearsals. I can't imagine what will it be like if i have difficulty doing a simple En-Chufla during Salsa. I probabaly will go for 2 more sessions at gym cause i think my body is getting used to it. I didnt manage to swim yet cause i threw away my old pair of army trunks and i need a new one.. haven't got the conviction to purchase a nice one for 20 odd dollars.. especially that being a bad breathless swimmer, i bareley swim more than several laps whenever i swim. (i think i'll give swimming a miss? im too fat to be seen in trunks anyway..Lol) Yeah and i will jog to burn my fats away.... haha..

i went JB on at least 4-5 occasions mainly to visit my fav place. and to watch movies: King Kong, Rock and what else. So i think i must have like spent lots of Ringgit. I love going to JB, irregardles with or without company. Its quite refreshing to be away from Singapore once in a while..

i managed to catch Pride & Prejudice! I loved it. Brilliant script (tho my fren Aishah claimed that the book is "heaps" more brilliant!) & i just love those times where mena nd women bow/curtsy to each other as a form of greeting. How refined and fashionable! Lol.

Also not forgetting my new passion -Dance! From dance camp to dance rehearsals and to dance outings at Union and Jitterbugs.. Sadly most dance schools are closed till 3rd january for the hols so i have to suffer from dance withdrawal esp Hip Hop at Jitterbugs and Inter Advance Salsa at LA Dance (the latter is sth which i wanted to attempt since the sch hols cause i'm getting bored of doing the same combo each time i social) Oh yeah i must add that i secretly, okie only Rita proabably know about this, secretly aspire to dance in the NUS DAnce Ensemble. I was blown away and inspired by them fully. Especially the chereography and the dancers for the main team. She said its modern dance, i thought i want to take Jazz classes or maybe modern/contemp dance to brush up on my basics, and confidence of course!

I borrowed 4 good books from the library related to advertising, from no-copy layout to cutting-edge tv commercials. learnt quite a lot but a part of me still resist reading.. Not that its not interesting its just that i feel distracted by other simpler tasks like..sleeping! :p CAN YOU BELIEVE I YET TO GET DOWN TO UPDATING MY PORTFOLIO!!! But i like the thrill of rushing. In one week i will do something noteworthy about my personal portfolio of ideas and Ads. I really need this to show to creative people from the ad industry..

i haven't done much shopping though.. mainly because of the lack of molah. (i.e money) But i think i will somehow get round to bu a nice long sleeved shirt, shoes and proabably a new pair of causal pants/jeans. I need to wear something really nice on the first day of school and especially because i'll be presented the book prize in front of the new comms class then. SO yeah should look decent if not impressive. :D

What else should i do eh? Hmmm. YEAH! i still YET TO collect my stuffs from my previous internship at FACT. Poor Siti have to suffer the lack of space.. (well its not that much la just a box full) I am just avoiding the place cause i dun really feel like saying hi to everyone else while i collect the box. So i have either to go very early or late or wait outside the office... (Mental note: Fadzli, you MUST not procrastinate anymore and get this stuff out from the office before you start school!) I think i'll arrange for a lunch date with Siti on wed.

if my "Dory" brain rememebers anything else i'll update..

oh yes, i kinda owe several nice people their Friendster testimonials!! ALways told myself that i will do them during the hols.. :p

oh yes again, i need to save up MORE space on my lapttop before it starts to be sluggish again...

Oh and i did watch the whole season 1 of LOST from DVD quality dics on my plasma tv! Yay! (Kudos to Deen and Hairule)

i love my mommy!

my mother, or ibu which is what i usually call her, is the nicest person really!

she offered to paid for my Phone + Internet bills which is like long overdue! ($300++) Yippie! She's such a saviour! Always so generous despite only getting an average pay from the production line.

I always have admired my mother. I think shes's a super mom, really. I am really proud to have such a strong and hardworking mom. Despite working 12 hour shifts at the factory, she still manages to cook, do housework, etc. Sometimes i wonder how she can take it, but i think its probably because she has done it for so long: she sometimes share anecdotes on how she helped my grandma to sell goreng pisangs back in the kampong days.. I learnt a lot from her, like tenacity, generosity among such. I wish i have her punctuality and her money-savvyness.

Anyway, yeah, she's always there for me. Like how she helped me with the flute installments. How she and my dad sponsored my new phone very recently. List goes on... I dunno what i 'd do without her!

Annyway, we both had a visit to the dentist after lunch today. She plucked out a tooth and did some fillings. I did my fillings and also polishing! ANd as usual, i got good comments from the dentist about my teeth! And i proudly tell them i floss at least once a week! Hehe.. I think the scariest thing about the visit was the sound of the tools vibrating on your teeth.. Its eeks.. but i managed! :D To think that its been more than 2 years sonce my last visit to one- after NS when i got 2 wisdom teeth extracted. Ouch!

THe trip remidned me of younger days when they had like regular scheduled visits to the dentists when we're in secondary and especially primary school! So nostalgic. I remembered those days, this indian lady dentist was nice and always say that my teeth is in good condition. Well, most of the time that is.

Anyway yeah, i treasure times spent with mom especially on her off days which coincide with my freer days (i.e holidays). Where we go lunch and have some time together... :D

(She'll be working tommorrow for the afternoon shift)

God Bless her!

found my kitty!

earlier this week i came across a very clever and cute print advertisement in TODAY's paper. Its a picture of a kitten trying to reach for an inflated condom! And the headline read "You can't teach them to play it safe"- Sterilise your pets. So cute right? and clever too of course cause it not only caught my attention it also makes u smile as soon as you arrive at the intended message. :) Bravo. Its by the AVA for the A Pet is for Life campaign. I really want to find out who is their agency? And want to get a foot in their door! :D

Oh yeah, i MUST share how i finally managed to lay my hands on them. Okay first it was of course lying around my house. then a few days back i tried to search for it but i found out that it is probably used for scrap paper: my mom always used papers for kitchen.. Neways yeah, it was like ALL the days of TODAY paper was there except Tues'. So.. darn i thought at that time. THen. Then on Friday, during Symphonia rehearsals i found it! there it was the Tuesday edition lying on the floor.. FOR ME!! How lucky is that!! :P I was destined to meet my cat ad! (love Cats!!)

(p.s. can someone teach me how to upload pictures please to my blog?? i want to show everyone the cute ad. Btw, its also available in ambient/outdoor at bus shelters i heard... Cool! And apparently they have puppies and hamsters too! HOW Super Cute is that!!)

Meow!

sweet serendipity

had to cancel appointment with Jiyah and Izan to go JB for shopping/movie today (my 3rd this week!) cause i earlier thought that Izan had to go to school for her band duties. So i made plans to meet my JB fren, Firdaus Chef for a movie- intended on King Kong since we can't catch the Chen Kaige Film: The Promise cause it wasnt showing in M'sia yet. (Darn just when i finally found someone who's interested to watch it!) ANd the girls managed to convice Tuty to coem along- esp with the Mango sale at City Square!

....

Earlier in the morn serendipity was shy so all things went slight off. I was late to meet Azrina to take the train to meet Alina to loan a "latin" dress from her. And poor thing an apek allegedly smiled at her while she was wating for me for like 25 mins at Bukit Batok platform! Lol.. THen when we're JUST abt to reach like Braddell to meet ALina, she called and apologised profusely for a minor accident- her mom accidentally placed the dress in the washer and its at that moment in the sun.. dripping WET!! LOL. I wasn't perturbed at all despite waking up at 8am in the morn to help a fren to borrow sth from another for the company (Yahoo!) dinner and was told that trip was but in VAIN just a few stops away from the destination! in fact i find it quite amusing... so we went to have breakfast and im hapy that Azrina accompanied me..she ate too of course! AM glad that at least the morning was not in vain since we managed to catch up with each other- esp that she's has graduated one term earlier... :(

....

Neways, when i got across the causeway the King Kong 3pm show were already sold out! (Oh i saw Addie and his SMU Dragon Boater frds i think in JB too people like that trumpet guy which i still havent figured out his name, and of DK too!) Yeah so i had to decide whether it would be Narnia or the Rock. I decided on the later but was worried it might be a bad choice esp after finding out that its a malay flick and im not even sure what the genre is.. comedy or sad?

It was, thank god, not bad and had a great time laughing at the jokes of the mat rockers. :P Yay! Here's where the sweet serendipity comes in!

GUess who i met? I met Izan when FIrdaus and me exited from the the theatre! of ALL times! of All places. Tereserempak! Cool! she got like 2 big bags of MANGO stuff!! Woohoo! I said hi and then said hi to Jiyah too!! :) then introduced them to Firdaus. SUch a coincidence that i met them despite not planning to. then we parted. THey to the movies for Perhaps Love- a musical which they found out later and regretted cause Izan slept twice esp when Takeshi Kaninna (Kaneishiro actually- pun taken from Sepet the movie), and we went ard and then to Sushi King to eat.

I was already kinda bloated with the extremely diabetic popcorns but me being me, with money at hand, decided to be a good sport and attempted to eat. I ordered CHicken Udon which i barely ate more than 15 strands of noodles! Lol.. We chatted and then took a walk and ended up in this unsmart sounding, albeit beautiful-at-nite place called Dangar Bay. By 5rm cab!

Its this nice place with lots of eating places and like free live music to boot! But most of all i just love the place cause its like nicely lit and the fact that its overlooking Singapore make the feeling a bit.. priceless? lol! Ironic actually but in a nice way. Like looking yourself at the mirror to see who you really are- a Singaporean! :P We then headed back. I dropped off at City Square and Firdaus Chef made his way back home...

At the Causeway queue was okay but longer than most days. Then at Spore side it was okay also but the atmosphere, the cool aircon and the orderliness of the place, made waiting so pleasant PLUS i can check people out almost blatantly w/o being frowned upon. DUH everyone's bored so legal voyeurism is accepatable!? So yeah. I must MUST say this ICA officer is super nice and friendly. Service with a smile. I'm proud that he's mly! (esp after comparison with earlier encounter with the johor side.. but of course i dun blame them fully: it is not a really pleasant environment to work in. ANd i tell you today's queue was like crazy. I was like on the supposed queue lane 8 for like more than 15 mins than only to realize that its one half of a queue! DAMN. Its totally like a river with its tributaries and distributaries. Why i say the latter too is because after i switched to the extreme right lane, i later realized to my joy that that row splits into two servers so its WAY FAST! Yippie! :D)

Oh yeah back to the part when im heading home from the Causeway at the SIngapore Immigrations. GUess who i met when i'm headed to the scanners after my passport was chopped??? I SAW IZAN AND JIYAH AGAIN!!!!!!!! This time it really put a SMILE on my face. :D SO fated to see them again! Haha..

THey invited me to join them for supper at Al Ammen at Woodlands. YAY! ANd i had such a superb time catching up and laughing my heads off at each others jokes and antics- especially the accidental ones! Ruzieyah should have her own Reality Blooper Show where viewers would watch intently on when she will say bimbotic stuff like; Big is not small and the likes. (Oh btw i cant rem but i think sth she said in the cab on our way home abt some Camp in the north deserves airtime in that reality show too! hehe) Topics from shopping to nurses, from the origin of the word Mama/ Mamak -till now we had no clue about- from music video to concerts, and from more weird/unique names to Tokyo 2007... hahhh :P

Despite not planning to meet the 2 funnest girls from my Yuhua Sec i, by fate, meet them TWICE on my trip to JB and back! Yay!

Great great time today with everyone! Thks Azrina, Firdaus Chef, Jiyah and Izan! SWEET SERENDIPITY INDEED!!

(p.s thks Jiyah for paying for the cab fare. i'm temp broke from the JB trips.. hugs!)

GOd Bless us all!

do i look american/british to you?

I taught tuition again at the Yishun Tuition Centre. It was quite hilarious. My new sec 3 going on to 4 student mentioned that i looked like a birtish or an american who lived in singapore! so interesting. I then probed and asked whether he knew of any acquaintance or friends who are american/british but he said no. hmm... He then said that my face look like them...?? wad! haha. LOL its so funny la.

He initally thought i could speak Mandarin or that i was Chinese or sth! 5 mins to the end of the session, his mom called to tell him where to meet after class. Upon hanging up, he blurted in mandarin- to me of course since there was only 2 of u in that classroom- that his mom wasted ten cents calling him cause he got no free incoming. i played along and remarked that why he didnt apply free incoming and he replied in Madarin-again- saying that it was his mom who applied.

haha. than i smiled and asked him do i look like i am Chinese or that i can speak mandarin? that's when he said no but 'you look British or American'..!!!

Weirdest comment i ever got!

i had received previous remark about the way i look. Most cabbies think i am chinese, some barbers and haridressers thought i was either chinese, thai or sth... Even when i travel ard in Johor, occasionally cabbies thought i was chinese.

I don't mind looking like one esp if i look as cool as my idol Jay Chou! LOL

Dance Camp: day 2

the breaking and street jazz yesterday was so fun thought by Larry and Carol respectively. But i tell you it was extremely tiring. My muscles are all aching espcially my left shoulder and right butt cause we were doing shoulder freeze! i dun feel like getting out of bed actually as i physically feel that i've just pushed myself in the gym. Breaking is surely more fun that i expected it to be! :p

i am so happy too cause yesterday i received a 'compliment' from the Street Jazz instructor. she said that i have the expression especially when im doing the whip. And she told the others to have more expression like me. I'm so happy that she noticed me despite me not remebering most of the steps. It is so encouraging- i am now more convinced to take up Jazz! :o)

i think i'm gonna spend the rest of the afternoon recuperating by starting on the Lost Season 1 Cds. Later tonite, CHeryl and I are going to the pageant at DXO: Queen of Queens. :)

Dance Camp: day 1

had fun today at Emix 'dance' camp. We learnt hip hop from Ryan who teaches at Studio Wu. I think he's good and funny too! :) i'm glad i caught most of the step and i felt much better. It was fun cause we split into three grps- all the boys in one and had to perform and 'flirt' with the audience! LOL.

after that we went to the Admin building and was split into grps of 3-4. Was so happy to be grouped together with my dance buddy, Justin. So we each had to come up with a chereography... guess wad! Our grp won! i was quite surprised but i think they prob like our super sexy intro most. (imagine 2 guys and girls on the floor crawling and making uhuh or orgasmic nosies to each other for the intro to Justin Timberlake's Like I Love You.) hehe. We got Ferero Rochere of couse we shared it with everyone! :) LOL COOL!

oh btw, some of the Caderas people went people like Alina, Amanda and Raphael! :p

So fun. can't wait for breaking by Larry (smu student- heard he's real good!) and also Street Jazz!! Woohooo!!! :P

the hols are here!

so my final exams was bad especially for Intellectual Property Rights, Business Processes and Social Psychology- in that order... who cares, i shouldn't! cause its the hols! Yay!

Its so weird, Life. i almost wanted to post a sad, dissapointed post regarding my Comms overal result for not getting an A plus esp after getting all those great marks in the presentation, tests and final report (read previous post). But guess what something better than an A plus, something unexpected and something that i'll be so proud of- i got the Optimedia Book Prize!! yeah! 3 top students from a class of 45 got the award! and i can;t believe i'm one of them!!!!!!!!!! I dun really care about the cash, etc. but its the award in itself!! Like i could definitely use it to gain some edge over others in applying for marcom related positions! :D

When Julie called me to tell me that i am also one of the winners in addition to her and of course Val, i was like woooo hoooo. of course disbelief at first cause i never sort of eyed it cause i sorta leaft the hopes of getting it to the powerhouse students who participated almost violently in class. But i DID put in my heart and soul in the project and the course!! cause the Prof's darn good hence my motivation level was at its peak! Yipppiieeeee!!! I am really so proud of it! Best!!!

*******

Anyway, we went to Syahriel's place earlier today, had fun hanging out with the old bunch of people like Lyn, Fik, Deen, Audrey of course :D Loved the spaghetti and definitely the lovely Brownies that Syahriel made!!!! its yummy!!! Pillsburry Brownie topped with Vanilla Ice cream and sprikled with cut fruits of strawberries, grapes! Yum yum! Oh yeah, playing UNO was still FUN after all! :P

Dance 'camp' tommorrow and the day after. so exciting! :)
